PokerStars Michigan has become the initial operator to introduce online poker across state lines within the state, following approval from the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
Michigan joined the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement in May, becoming the fourth state to do so, enabling its players to engage in games with PokerStars participants from other authorized and approved states.
The possibility of interstate poker in Michigan was realized through a law enacted in January 2021. This followed another law that permitted online casinos, including poker, but without shared liquidity.
Starting January 1, 2023, New Jersey players can now participate in games alongside those in Michigan. The Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement encompasses Delaware and Nevada, in addition to Michigan and New Jersey.
