The global Tennis Integrity Agency (TIA) has permanently prohibited chair umpire Fabian Carreno from officiating after he was convicted of violating numerous anti-corruption regulations.

Carreno, originally from the Dominican Republic, was discovered to have broken 16 rules of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP) during eight matches.

He was also found to have manipulated scores on a handheld device to ensure betting victories on specific matches at the ITF M15 competition held in the Dominican Republic in November and December 2019.

Carreno had been temporarily suspended by the TIA since March 1 of the previous year while the case was being examined, but the official penalty means he will be eternally banned from officiating or participating in any sanctioned tennis event organized or acknowledged by the sport’s governing organizations.

Specific violations of the 2019 TACP included D.1.d, which states that no regulated individual shall directly or indirectly arrange, attempt to arrange, agree to arrange or conspire to arrange the outcome or any other aspect of any event.

The TIA also highlighted section D.2.b.

Should you or any of your acquaintances be contacted regarding match fixing or related actions, kindly inform the ITIA without delay.
