Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, has seen a new addition: an outdoor betting terrace, operated by the Kentucky Derby Company (CDI). This terrace is the only authorized betting site on land in Louisville.

The terrace spans 8,000 square feet and features 225 historical racing machines (HRM), pushing the total number of machines at the facility to 1,225.

The Kentucky Derby, CDI’s flagship event and a global icon, will reach its 146th running on September 5th. The event was initially scheduled for May 2nd, 2020, but was delayed. The race will take place without spectators, a measure taken to ensure the safety of the tradition of holding the race annually since 1875.
