Ontarios regulatory body for alcohol and gaming, the AGCO, has named Karin Schnarr as its incoming Chief Executive Officer and Registrar. A seasoned executive with a robust history in strategic planning, Schnarr assumes the position effective September 18th. She transitions to the AGCO from Wilfrid Laurier University’s Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, where she held the title of Associate Professor of Strategic Management. Her professional journey encompasses significant positions within the Ontario government, notably an Assistant Deputy Minister role where she supervised the creation of public policy, regulations, and legal frameworks. Schnarr has also been a vocal supporter of women in the professional sphere, acting as Chair of Ontarios Women’s Economic Council and promoting solutions to obstacles encountered by women in fields such as STEM and business creation. In recent times, she contributed as a member of the Board of Directors for iGaming Ontario and as head of their Corporate Affairs Committee.

AGCO expressed immense excitement in welcoming Dr. Schnarren to their team! His guidance and background will be essential as they progress, a representative shared. The company also conveyed sincere appreciation for Tom Mungham’s extensive commitment as CEO and Corporate Secretary, noting he leaves a significant void to fill.

This leadership transition arrives at a noteworthy period for AGCO. The organization was recently issued a $75,000 penalty by Ontario authorities for breaching responsible gaming rules at its Apollo Entertainment division.
