The well-known betting company, Betfred, has reaffirmed its dedication to philanthropy by contributing a substantial £30,000 (roughly $38,000) to Macmillan Cancer Support.
This act of generosity was made possible through Betfred’s impactful fundraising initiatives during the latest World Darts Championship and Women’s World Darts Championship. For each remarkable 180-point score achieved in these esteemed competitions, Betfred committed to donating £50. Furthermore, they contributed £1 for every point earned throughout both championships.
The enthusiasm peaked during the thrilling nine-dart charity event, where talented darts players and famous personalities united to raise an extra £9,793 for this deserving organization.
The men’s competition saw an astonishing 315 perfect scores of 180, while the women’s championship achieved an impressive nine. Nathan Aspinall, the well-earned victor of the men’s title, displayed his exceptional skill by achieving an incredible 44 perfect scores.
Since becoming the title sponsor of the World Darts Championship in 2019, Betfred has consistently supported charitable groups. In past years, they have aided Parkinson’s UK and the Stroke Association, making this their second year partnering with Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Sponsoring these events annually is a high point for Betfred, but we are also incredibly proud to support a wonderful charity like Macmillan Cancer Support,” stated Fred Done, the respected Chairman of Betfred.
“The caliber of darts and the backing for our charitable endeavors from the players across both the World Championship and the Women’s World Championship was exceptional. The funds raised for Macmillan Cancer Support will be incredibly valuable to such a vital charity.”
The bookmakers’ incredibly kind contribution to Macmillan Cancer Support is truly remarkable,” the current global darts title holder remarked, speaking about the approaching competition. “Their efforts are so vital, and having the opportunity to assist them in generating these significant funds is deeply meaningful.”
